I have the sweetest wedding in the world for you tonight. I know it’s a bold statement but it is sooo true. Joel & Emily celebrated a beautiful DIY wedding that was truly a family affair. Emily’s friend helped with her hair, her sister-in-law did her makeup, and a family friend baked all the yummy treats for the reception (which look delicious!!). Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends helped light candles that surrounded the couple during the ceremony while the couple lit the unity candle at the end. This was an incredible symbol of the love & support Joel & Emily have around them. The wonderful Abi from Abi Q Photgraphy, the little sister-in-law of the groom, took all the amazing pictures from the day. I loved reading about the couple and hearing some of Abi’s funny stories about Joel on her blog! Make sure to tell me your favorite detail (my favorite is the engraving in the tree..so romantic). Enjoy lovelies!
From the photographer:
In early August two of my favorite people committed to spend the rest of their lives together, for better or worse. As it was nearing dusk in the backyard, the lanterns were lit and the blushing bride made her way down the aisle toward her husband to be. They said vows of old surrounded by a forest of pine tree’s as family and friends looked on. Between tears, Joel and Emily vowed to love each other forever…
…One thing I particularly adored about Joel and Emily’s wedding was they had people who had invested and poured into their lives {prayer, time, love, etc} light candles along the back of the stage as a way of honoring them. Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and friends all lit the candles, and in the end Joel and Emily lit their unity candle and placed it in the center of the other flickering candles…. providing a stunning visual of them being surrounded by all those that love them, and the witness we bared to their union….

OH, so pretty! I was going to say “It’s impressive for a DIY”, but it is impressive no matter what! They did a great job.
oh.my. Such emotion-packed and lovely images! WOW…
As a grandmother, I was so touched by my granddaughter’s thoughtful planning of her special day. I was so thankful for the young man who wanted to be her husband and a part of our family. I was so grateful for the awesome guests who truly came to honor both Joel and Emily. I was so proud of Emily’s parents who entrusted their daughter’s future to Joel. And, mnost of all, it was astounding how God was honored by the bride and groom and how God’s presence was felt throughout.
